These iPhones Will No Longer Get New iOS Update.
If you are reading this article on an older iPhone, then maybe it's time to look for a successor this new year as Apple is expected to end support for some iPhones again.
The next major operating system update from Apple is expected in October 2022 - at least if Apple maintains the update cycle.
So according to rumours, you will have problems in less than a year if you use one of the older iPhone models which are:
- Apple iPhone 6s
- Apple iPhone 6s Plus
- Apple iPhone SE (1st generation)
It is important to note here that these devices were released in 2015 and 2016.
What is the basis of this rumour?
If you have noticed the models which came previous to the above ones did not receive the iOS 15 update.
So similarly it can be deduced that the new iOS 16 update may not be available for iPhone 6s, 6s Plus and iPhone SE (2016).
From this, we can also deduce some iPad models that should therefore no longer receive an update as well.
So are these rumours really true?
We have to keep in mind that these are just exemptions. In fact, Apple itself has not yet published any official information on iOS 16.
Also even before the release of iOS 15, there were rumours about the iPhone 6s, 6s Plus and iPhone SE (2016) that these models too will probably not get an update, but then, somewhat surprisingly, these were equipped with the new operating system.
Conclusion
Considering Apple keep the tradition, iOS 16 should probably be announced at WWDC 2022, which usually takes place in autumn and by then we should be able to take a detailed look at iOS 16.
But what do you think, will Apple really stop the software support to iPhone 6s, 6s Plus and iPhone SE (2016)? Let us know in the comments below.
