The Viral WhatsApp Rules Message, Have You Also Received It?
There is a viral message being forwarded many times mentioning the new strict rules that WhatsApp users will have to follow in order to avoid getting into legal troubles.
The message claims that as soon as the new rules get implemented then all of your WhatsApp calls will be recorded and your social media accounts will also be monitored.
If someone is found to have shared some negative information about the government or any religion then the person would have to face legal consequences.
However, after doing some deep research on the authenticity of this viral message it has been found that WhatsApp has not implemented any such communication rules.
Thus the users can be assured of the fact that WhatsApp remains private and end-to-end encrypted. So no third party, be it Facebook or WhatsApp or even the government can read your messages.
Only you and your message receiver/sender can access the messages that you both exchange between yourselves, be it a simple text message, photo, video, audio, or any document.
With end-to-end encryption, your messages are secured and only you and your recipient have access to read them. In fact, you can yourself verify if the messages and calls are end-to-end encrypted between you and your recipient by following the below simple steps:
- visit your recipient's profile
- tap on the Encryption section
- when you are on the next screen, scan the code or compare the 60-digit numbers with the recipient
- if you see that the result is similar, then you can be sure that the messages between you two are secured
Basically, the codes that you get are unique to each chat and can be compared between people in each chat. However, if you do see a security code changed notification on WhatsApp, then it simply means that either your recipient may have reinstalled WhatsApp or may have changed his/her phone.
So, as you can see yourself that this viral message is fake and so you are advised not to worry about it and also to not forward it to anyone else.
