Wavelet is a very interesting android application that promises to improve and fine-tune the sound quality of your headphones. And let me tell you it is a way lot different from other similar applications.
In the free version, Wavelet offers you the following options
- Legacy mode
- Reduce clipping
- AutoEq
- Graphic equaliser
- Limiter
- Channel balance
Legacy mode
By default, when you open the application you will see a blank screen. The features will become available whenever a compatible music application plays an audio.
However, if no features show up while you’re playing music, then you can try enabling the legacy mode option and check if the Wavelet app processes your music in this mode.
Spotify, YT music and Google Play Music are among few such apps which are compatible with Wavelet. So when you play music using these apps, you'll see Wavelet music options show up.
But there are more such apps which are compatible with Wavelet. In addition, most music apps that come pre-installed on the smartphones can also work in legacy mode.
Reduce clipping
Clipping refers to the point where the waveform has reached its maximum level, it is where the sound cracking occurs.Hence, choosing the Reduce clipping option, reduces clipping experience since selecting this option, you allow Wavelet to process audio in a bigger time frame (150 vs 22ms).
AutoEq or Auto Equaliser
As the name suggests, this option automatically optimizes the sound output according to your headset model which you need to select from the list of options that are available.Graphic Equaliser
In this mode, you have full control over the individual frequency ranges and can adjust their volume individually.Limiter
The limiter has a scale called a threshold, and this value determines how much the sound is suppressed. The higher the number, the larger the line that crushes the sound. To increase the sound pressure clearly, it is important to adjust the limiter according to your song.
Channel balance
This is also one of the most practical and useful tool. This tool is very useful in a situation when you experience a difference in impedance between the left and right channels of the headphones or speakers. Using this you can control the left, and right channel output volumes separately.
Apart from these free tools, Wavelet also offers some premium features such as: Bass booster, Riverberation, Virtualiser and Bass tuner, that you can explore and enjoy in exchange for some fee.
